ในบทความนี้ พี่เดียร์ (Krittiyaporn K.) จะมารีริวประสบการณ์เรียนต่อโทสาขา MSc Information Systems and Business Analysis ที่ Aston University ให้เพื่อนๆ ได้อ่านประกอบการตัดสินใจมาศึกษาต่อที่ประเทศอังกฤษกันค่ะ

Why did you choose Aston University?

"I chose Aston because of the followings:

1. Program/course - Aston ISBA offers a program that meets my requirements, which is a course that combines IT and business. Other schools don’t really have this kind of course smh. Besides the core courses, they also have a Professional Development Programme (for every semester) for career guidance. They’ll teach you how to write a CV, interview, etc. They also have self-reflection activity that helps you to improve yourself. Another thing that attracted me is an internship/study abroad/business stimulation program at the end of your master study. So Aston gives students an opportunity to choose one of these pathways. You could do an internship (which I did with the Uni) or study abroad anywhere in the world. Those who don’t want to do an internship or study abroad, they’ll be participating in the business stimulation program. This program is like a business case competition (my friends quite enjoyed this program). They also hosted a job fair every week.
2. Scholarship - I got a scholarship from Aston based on my GPA ka. I would recommend everyone to apply. The details are on their website, not sure if they’ve changed it atm.
3. Location - It’s in the midlands so it’s very easy to travel up north and south. University is within walking distance from the city centre and it’s very convenient.
4. Student supports - Especially career-related, if you go to the service, they’ll push you and help you get what you want."

How's it like studying at Aston University?

"I think Aston is quite small but it’s good for me because I get to know everyone in my course and my professors very well. Professors are very helpful and open-minded. My professor would listen to my ideas and discussed them. They gave me thorough feedback and provided everything (advice and tools) as much as they could. There is an appointment system where students can arrange a meeting with professors, I love it! I still keep in touch with my professors and I would recommend everyone to do this too ka. I got a job partly because of them too.

Aston is very diverse in terms of students and it’s because the majority is international students, I feel very comfortable with other students. Not shy at all and it’s good because I make loads of friends there and still keep in touch with the close ones.

Also, there is a large number of Thai students in my year. I’ve never met Thai students this much before since I moved to the US and the U.K. I really appreciate this because Thai students are so supportive! Didn’t really have anything like this in uni experience so I love Aston for this too.  Facilities aren’t bad. They have everything you need for studying and playing. There is a gym on campus. There are pubs around campus and student groups normally organised parties for students almost every week. The fresher week was lit. they're famous for being a specialist university in business."

How do you find your overall experience?

"For the courses, I think they provided unique courses that students will definitely use in their jobs. Other than theory, there are workshops where we have to do real business cases. I think it’s a bit like the show called Apprentice, very fun though. It did help boost my confidence a bit. There are a lot of discussions, essays and projects. I think the classes weren’t that easy but not that difficult. It’s manageable.

Finally, I still think Aston is still very good for business school ka. They actually listen to you if you have anything to add to the class, to make the class more interesting and most useful to you."

การเตรียมตัวศึกษาต่อที่ประเทศอังกฤษ

ระยะเวลาที่เปิดรับสมัครเข้าเรียนระดับป.โท

มหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่เปิดรับสมัครตั้งแต่เดือนตุลาคมในปีก่อนหน้าที่จะไปเรียน เช่น อยากไปเรียนปี 2022 (เปิดเทอมตอนเดือนกันยายน) ก็สมัครเรียนได้ตั้งแต่ตุลาคมของปี 2021 (ปิดรับสมัครทันทีหากเต็มจำนวนที่ต้องการแล้ว)

เกณฑ์การรับเข้าสมัครเรียนระดับป.โท

ทางมหาวิทยาลัยจะพิจารณาเกรดเฉลี่ยในระดับป.ตรีและคะแนนสอบภาษา IELTS เป็นหลัก โดยคะแนน IELTS จะรับอยู่ที่ 6.0-7.0 หรือบางที่อาจจะรับถึง 7.5 จาก 9.0

ในกรณีที่มีคะแนน IELTS ไม่ถึงเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด สามารถไปเรียนคอร์สปรับพื้นฐานทางภาษาของทางมหาวิทยาลัยที่เรียกว่า Pre-sessional course ก่อนเปิดเรียนคอร์สป.โท โดยส่วนมากจะเรียนช่วงเดือนพฤษภาคม-สิงหาคม

เอกสารที่ต้องใช้สมัครเรียนระดับป.โท

1. Transcript - ผลการเรียนล่าสุด
2. Degree Certificate - ใบรับรองจบการศึกษา
3. IELTS Academic for UKVI - ผลสอบระดับภาษาอังกฤษ
4. CV - ประวัติส่วนตัว
5. SOP (Statement of Purpose) - เรียงความแนะนำตัว 1 หน้ากระดาษ A4
6. Recommendation Letter 2 ฉบับ - จากอาจารย์หรือหัวหนัางาน
7. Passport - ควรมีอายุเหลืออย่างน้อย 2 ปี
8. UK or US VISA (ถ้ามี)
9. GMAT/ GRE for PG (ถ้ามี)
10. Bank Statement (ย้อนหลัง 6 เดือน) เฉพาะสำหรับผู้ที่สมัครเรียน US
