Alcohol, fish and chips, good music are best bits that describe British culture. Hanging out in the pub is an important part of how the Brits bond with their mates as well as colleagues. GoUni introduces you to the most common things you will notice once you step foot on an English pub. ?

1."Pubs" in a British context, is "bars", for the Americans. A place when you can sit down, relax, order food as well as drinks.

2. The definitions of "pub" vary from a meeting spot where people go to meet up, read newspapers, have a drink or two or even get totally wasted..

3. This might come as a shock to foreigners when they visit the United Kingdom, the pubs here open as early as 12 pm!

4. When there is a pub, there is fish and chips. ?

5. You will encounter a "family room" in the pub, where children is permitted to enter. You won't find any pubs or bars in this world where they allow children to go inside! ?

6. British pubs are usually old yet, charming Victorian style buildings.

7. In every corner of every pub in every British town, you will find a fruit machine. No, it does not dispense fruits. It is a slot machine or "gambling" machine.

8. Their closing time is ironic and goes against number 3 in this list. The pubs in United Kingdom close as early as 11pm. ?

9. Once you enter the pub, you will be greeted with these familiar expressions from a bartender such as  "What are you having?" or "What can I get you?"

10. Last but not least, pubs aren't pubs if they aren't any beers offered. You will find a long list of alcohol drinks at the pub. "Ale" or British Beer, "Lager", "Stout" and the list goes on.. UK is also famous for "Cider" for people who don't fancy beers.
