✨ Top 10 British Christmas Foods ✨
With Christmas just one week away, let's have a look at one of the most important elements: the food!
1. Turkey
Historically goose was more traditional, but turkey is now the most common Christmas meat, roasted whole. It tastes similar to chicken, but it's much bigger.
2. Roast Potatoes
Crispy and covered in gravy!
3. Stuffing
Traditionally cooked inside a chicken or turkey, stuffing is a mixture of breadcrumbs and herbs, often with other ingredients too such as onion or dried fruit.
4. Pigs in Blankets
Small sausages wrapped in bacon, what's not to like?
Fun fact: In Scotland, these are called kilted sausages!
5. Yorkshire Pudding
Made from a batter that includes eggs, milk, and flour, they go nicely with gravy.
6. Roast Parsnips and Carrots
Parsnips are like beige carrots. When roasted these root vegetables become much sweeter.
7. Cranberry Sauce
Cranberries are an intensely bitter and sour fruit, but put into a sweet sauce they make a perfect and very traditional accompaniment to a Christmas turkey.
8. Brussel Sprouts
Like mini cabbages. Not everyone likes them...
9. Christmas Pudding
A dense domed fruit cake traditionally doused with alcohol and set fire to before eating.
10. Mince Pies
Mince pies are small pies that are filled with dried fruit and spices. Perfect with a cup of tea!
Happy eating everyone!
